It is National Storytelling Week. Our teachers have swapped classes this afternoon for story time! They will swap each afternoon this week.
We've had a super day exploring our local environment and practising our fieldwork skills. We have made sound maps, observed human and physical features, practised our compass skills, identified different leaves, collected traffic data and used transects to study ground use.
We've had a super start to the term introducing our new learning behaviour character, Curious Cat.
As it is our Geography focus this term, we decided to give our challenge day a Geography theme. The children worked in mixed teams from Reception through to Year 6 to present information about a country. They could choose how they wanted to present it and what they wanted to find out. At the end of the morning, we all had the opportunity to share what had been produced.
The children were absolutely fantastic!
We had a fabulous time watching The Grinch at the Ritz this morning. We want to say a huge thank you to the train staff who supported us and to the staff at the Ritz who always make us feel so welcome.
We also had a lovely surprise when we returned as Ambergate Methodist Church had left an angel for each child attached to our railings.
What a lovely day!
Class 2 had a wonderful day at Creswell Crags. The children were fantastic. We were so proud of all the amazing historical facts they were able to share with the staff there. They have learnt so much about Prehistoric Britain this term!
A huge thank you to everyone that supported and helped at the Christmas Fair. It was fabulous and raised £500!
We had a fantastic time at Mansfield Palace Theatre for their version of Beauty and Beast. The children were amazing!
Thank you for the wonderful sock combinations we have seen today marking the start of Anti-bullying Week.
The theme this year is 'Make a noise about bullying.'
A huge thank you to Mrs Oakley who has started some planting with the children. Each group will have their own bed to plant over the next few weeks. Year 3/4 started theirs this morning.
We've had an amazing first morning back!
Our new building learning power character is Strategic Owl so we are thinking about how we learn best, the resources we need to learn and planning. We are really promoting the children taking ownership of their learning and striving to be resilient in all aspects of their lives.
To launch our new character, we've had a challenge morning. All the children were divided up into mixed groups from Reception through to Year 6 and asked to design and make a newspaper outfit for our fashion show. The results were amazing! The children were fabulous, worked brilliantly in their teams and were very well supported by their Year 6 team leader.
I am really proud of our Ambergate Team.
