We've had a great time celebrating Science Week!
The children have completed some fantastic experiments: floating and sinking boats, testing with the microbits, parachute testing, egg drop, coin cleaning and water filtering. They have also learnt about different scientists and shared the information with children from another class.
We have really enjoyed welcoming our families in for ‘Share a story’ during our book week. We had a great time during World Book Day with lots of super activities and have loved our extended story times in class this week.
On Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th March, our super Year 4 and 5 children completed their level 1 or level 2 Bikeability. The instructors praised how well the children listened and said their attitude was absolutely fantastic.
We’ve had a super start back with our challenge morning. Our new learning behaviour this term is Connecting Spider. This focuses on making links between prior learning and new learning, spotting clues and seeing the bigger picture. The challenge today was to make the strongest bridge. All the children were absolutely brilliant and made some amazing bridges.
We've had the pleasure of welcoming our families in our maths lessons for this term's 'Come and Join Us' sessions.
It was lovely to see everyone and be able to share our maths learning.
It is National Storytelling Week. Our teachers have swapped classes this afternoon for story time! They will swap each afternoon this week.
We've had a super day exploring our local environment and practising our fieldwork skills. We have made sound maps, observed human and physical features, practised our compass skills, identified different leaves, collected traffic data and used transects to study ground use.
We've had a super start to the term introducing our new learning behaviour character, Curious Cat.
As it is our Geography focus this term, we decided to give our challenge day a Geography theme. The children worked in mixed teams from Reception through to Year 6 to present information about a country. They could choose how they wanted to present it and what they wanted to find out. At the end of the morning, we all had the opportunity to share what had been produced.
The children were absolutely fantastic!
We had a fabulous time watching The Grinch at the Ritz this morning. We want to say a huge thank you to the train staff who supported us and to the staff at the Ritz who always make us feel so welcome.
We also had a lovely surprise when we returned as Ambergate Methodist Church had left an angel for each child attached to our railings.
What a lovely day!
Class 2 had a wonderful day at Creswell Crags. The children were fantastic. We were so proud of all the amazing historical facts they were able to share with the staff there. They have learnt so much about Prehistoric Britain this term!
