We have an amazing piece of art currently hanging in our school hall.
It is a Himmelli, Swedish for 'heaven'.
Our Himmelli was created by the art collections team at Chatsworth for the Nordic Christmas theme and was displayed in the house.
It's a traditional North European craft, made out of straws. The straw most commonly used was rye straw from a previous harvest year.
Once constructed it hangs above the dining table to bring luck, prosperity and a good rye yield for the coming year. Hung from Christmas to midsummer, tradition says the bigger the Himmelli the larger the harvest!
A huge thank you to Miss Hall. Miss Hall works at Chatsworth and put our school's name forward for hosting one of these stunning pieces of art.
